My advice for beginners would to join a woodworking form online, or join a woodworking group in your town. There you can ask questions and learn the basics of woodworking. Many older woodworkers are very willing to help you out and show you the ropes so you can get started in the hobby. Another thing you might won't to do is subscribe to a woodworking magazine. There you will find a lot of great articles showing you just about everything you will ever need to know.
